After the Maharashtra poll debacle, top Congress leaders are meeting in Delhi
The Working Committee of Congress (CWC) met on Friday to discuss the party’s recent electoral performance in Maharashtra, Jharkhand and Haryana. The upcoming Delhi elections and strategies for the Parliament session were also on the agenda.
The meeting, chaired by party president Mallikarjun Kharge, included former chief Rahul Gandhi, AICC general secretaries Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, KC Venugopal and Jairam Ramesh.
The CWC analyzed the divergent election results. The party’s alliance won in Jharkhand, but they faced losses in Maharashtra and Haryana. Preparations for the upcoming elections in Delhi and Bihar, including possible alliances, were the focus.
Parliamentary strategy was another topic. The Congress is planning to challenge the government on the Adani issue, a factor in the ongoing disruption of the winter session.
In addition, the Congress has raised concerns with the Election Commission about “serious and grave inconsistencies” in Maharashtra’s election data, and sought a hearing to present evidence.
