The event, which will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will showcase 33 GI tagged products to connect rural crafts with the global market as well as two unique exhibitions on Muga and Eri silk. Jyotiraditya Scindia stated that the festival encapsulates the potential of the Northeast as both a “cultural treasure and an economic powerhouse” and reflects how a “Developed Northeast” is integral to achieving a “Developed India”.
Scindia said, “The importance of this region will be showcased not only at the national level but also at the global level, which our government sees as the engine of India’s growth story.” The minister added that Delhi will also host a Northeast Investors Summit in April-May next year for which MoUs Rs 9,500 cr have already been signed through various roadshows. “If required, the Center will also facilitate roadshows for the Chief Ministers of States at foreign destinations,” Scindia said.
Key highlights of the festival include the State Pavilions, where visitors can explore the rich history and traditions of the Northeast through immersive virtual reality experiences. Featuring 200 artisans, the pavilions will showcase traditional crafts, textiles and modern products, with an expected business turnover of Rs 20 million.
The minister also stressed the importance of involving big bankers to create a robust financial ecosystem in the region and informed that a banking summit will be held in the coming days to strengthen banking infrastructure in the Northeast and improve access to credit and improve financial services for the region. entrepreneurs and startups.
It is envisaged to become an annual event where Scindia will shine a spotlight on the exquisite craftsmanship of the silk weavers of Muga and Eri. This pavilion will also showcase unique creations from 15 renowned designers, celebrating the brand’s global appeal Northeast India‘Golden Silk’.
The rural haarts, which will host 320 grassroots, will showcase crafts, handlooms, floriculture and agricultural products, combining tradition with economic empowerment.
The technical sessions will see business and policy experts discuss sustainable development strategies tailored to the North East, laying out a roadmap for the region’s prosperity, while a special fashion show will showcase eco-friendly designs from 20 top designers, embracing traditional elements combined with contemporary fashion trends.
A commemorative postage stamp will be issued to mark this occasion.
