Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the DGPs at the conference on Saturday and Sunday. According to an official statement, Shah advocated the implementation of a “zero tolerance strategy and zero tolerance action to address the zero tolerance policy.”
The Union Home Minister acknowledged significant improvements in the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir, the North-East and the regions affected by Left-wing extremism and commended the efforts of the police leadership. Shah noted that the recently introduced criminal laws shifted the focus of the criminal justice system from punishment to justice.
He emphasized that these new laws are in keeping with Indian traditions, while at the same time highlighting the crucial role of the security establishment in achieving Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047 and becoming the third largest economy in 2027. The Home Secretary commended the leadership of the police for ensuring smooth general elections in 2024 and effective implementation of three new criminal laws.
Shah said: “Over the next two days of the conference, the country’s top police leadership would chalk out a roadmap to address existing and emerging national security challenges, including LWE, coastal security, narcotics, cybercrime and economic security. .”
