Incredible images have emerged from Pope Leo XIV who looks from the stands during the Chicago White Sox‘s Glorious World Series victory in 2005.

The 69-year-old, whose birth name Robert Francis is Prevost, became the first American in the history of the Catholic Church when he was chosen in the Vatican.

The new pope was born in Chicago in 1955 and half a decade later he was under the crowd on the then cellular field for game 1 of the World Series against the Houston Astros.

In a clip that went viral on social media on Friday, he can see how the White Sox closes a 5-3 victory.

With Chicago only two strikes shy for the victory, the camera switches from the hill to the stands, where Pope Leo XIV carries team colors.

White smoke came from the Sistine Chapel on Thursday and confirmed that a new pope had been chosen after the death of Pope Francis.

It didn’t take long, the Chicago Cubs had shared a photo through their social media channels, Celebrating what they thought was a new famous fan.

“Hey, Chicago. He is a Cubs fan! ‘A message on a Jumbotron on the iconic Wigley field read on Thursday. The Cubs shared it on X with the caption: “Congratulations to Pope Leo XIV!”

But it soon became apparent that the MLB team had made an embarrassing mistake.

“Yes, he was never, never a Cubs fan, I don’t know where that came from,” the pope John’s brother told WGN News.

“He was always a SOX fan. Our mother was a Cubs fan, our father was a fan of cardinals. I don’t know where that all came from. ‘
