Google Photos is introducing a new Moments tab on iOS, replacing this option

Google Photos has introduced a new design for its app on the iOS platform, updating the bottom bar with fewer options than before. The latest update brings functional changes, including the removal of the ‘Reminders’ tab from the app’s homepage. This has been replaced by a new button that can be accessed by navigating to a submenu. Notably, this follows the rollout of a new feed that offers options to see updates to shared albums, conversations, memory, and storage.

Moments tab in Google Photos

The changes were introduced with version 7.9 of the Google Photos for iOS app, which can be downloaded from the App Store. After its rollout, the Memories tab has been removed and replaced by moments, but the placement is different. Instead of appearing on the Google Photos homepage next to the Photos and other tabs, it has been moved to the Collections tab.

This means that the bottom navigation bar now only contains three options: Photos, CollectionsAnd Search.

However, the functionality remains the same. Moments in Google Photos for iOS uses artificial intelligence (AI) to curate a customized and personalized collection of the user’s important photos and videos. They can add details, find specific moments and share them with others.

Other recent changes

The Google Photos app recently introduced a new feature called Updates that makes it easier for users to keep track of incoming activity. It will appear as a new feed on the app’s homepage with options to see updates made to shared albums, conversations, memory, and storage.

It has been introduced on both Android and iOS platforms and adds to the growing list of changes introduced in recent months, such as the Collections tab replacing the Library in August.
