Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, Republican of Georgia, said on Friday that she would not run to Senate in 2026.
The revelation – a huge relief for Republicans who feared that she would challenge the democratic senator Jon Ossoff and put their chance to beat him – 1200 words was deep in a screed against her party that Mrs. Greene posted on social media On Friday evening.
In her tirade against the armed forces, she accused that she stood in the way, Mrs. Greene tore the National Republican Senatorial Committee, Gop -Consultants, Pollsters, Rich Donors, the institution of the Senate and the Republican legislators who serve “Sabotage Trump’s agenda”.
“No, Jon Ossoff is not the real problem,” wrote Mrs. Greene in a message about X. “He is only a mood. A pawn. No different than the Uniparty Republicans who skip important voices to attend fundraisers and make our agenda fail.”
She added: “Someone once said,” The Senate is where good ideas die. ” They were right.
All eyes were used to Mrs. Greene this week after Gov. Brian Kemp from Georgia, the top potential recruit for the race, announced that he would not run to the chair, A decision he made public at a meeting of rich donors at Sea Island, GA.
Mrs. Greene was a paria within her party when she arrived in the congress in 2021 to promote conspiracy theories. But her popularity at the Maga -Basis has enabled her to get up and she is now holding a hammer in the house. A close ally of President Trump, Mrs. Greene actually has a term of office in her red district.
But she is also an ambitious politician who has been pronounced about her desire to keep the office throughout the state, a movement that is difficult for a difficult election driver of a purple state represented by two democratic senators and a Republican governor who is popular because of his controversial relationship with Mr Trump.
Mrs. Greene, unlike Mr. Kemp, is a true believer in the Maga agenda of Mr. Trump. On Thursday, for example, she spent her day on the house floor defending the merits of her bill to permanently rename the Gulf of Mexico as the Gulf of America, as a result of which the “America First” executor of Mr. Trump Codified.
In her Friday evening post, Mrs. Greeene accused the ‘elites’ in her company of’ trying to carefully select someone who can get dressed in Maga just enough to mislead the grass roots by thinking that they are one of us – someone who does not dare to display the Republican establishment or to disturb the status quo again and time. “
She also implied that the Republican Senate Campaign -arm had discouraged her from running by spreading polls showing that she would lose from Mr Ossoff. (A recent poll by the Atlanta Journal Constitution showed her with 17 points.)
“When I met the NRSC a few weeks ago, they told me that their internal polls can beat every Republican Ossoff,” wrote Mrs. Greene. “But now they are pushing a public survey of only 800 people who claim that only certain republicans can win. Funny how that works.”
A spokesperson for the Senatorial Committee did not immediately respond to a request for comments.
There are no republican candidates in the race yet, but Mr. Ossoff is considered the most vulnerable democrat in the Senate and the race is expected to be very competitive.
Mrs. Greene seemed frustrated and angry with opponents in her own party.
“I will not fight for a team that refuses to win, that protects his weakest players, and that undermines the people who should serve it,” she wrote. “For the elite retreseurs, the consultants and the establishment: consider this as your warning.”
