Former Liberal Employee Bruce Lehrmann has claimed that he will defend accusations that he has stolen a car.
The 29-year-old Fronted Hobart Magistrates' Court on Monday morning after being accused of 'motor vehicle stems'.
It is claimed that he has stolen a Toyota Prado from a national building in the Huon Valley area in the south of Tasmania, about 30 km southeast of Hobart, on November 20 last year.
According to judicial documents, the accusation of stealing motor vehicles was established by Gail Denise Oates against Lehrmann.
Sydney lawyer Zali Burrows, who was seen with Lehrmann in Hobart in October, represents him and appeared via the telephone connection from NSW.
He did not go into a plea and the case was postponed until 19 June.
But a source near Lehrmann told Newscorp that he was 'confused' by the indictment and claimed that Mrs. Oates's son had him used the vehicle because he helped retain their property.
At the beginning of 2023 it was reported that Lehrmann lived in Tasmania and chose grapes in a boutique winery.

The source also claimed that Mrs. Oates only complained to the police weeks after Lehrmann had used the car.
“She complained for weeks after the fact and the car was borrowed for half a day and returned with a full tank of fuel,” the source added.
Lehrmann, who studies rights, is well known with the system of the courts.
Last year, the Federal Court of Justice Michael Lee discovered that he had raped his former colleague Brittany Higgins after a night out in March 2019 after he had recorded a defamation against channel 10.
The judgment was found according to the civil standard, which is on the balance sheet of probabilities instead of reasonable doubt.
Lehrmann has always denied the allegations and appeals to the judgment.
Criminal proceedings about the incident in the law ended without findings against Lehrmann after the misconduct of the jury member.
An excited second test was abandoned for fear of mental health of Mrs. Higgins.
He is also ready to be on the end this year for two counts of rape at Toowoomba District Court.
He did not enter any supplications, but it believed that he would defend the charges.
