Football fans remained furious after the League One Playoff match between Leyton Orient and Stockport was marred by a “ridiculous” offside call.

Charlie Kelman opened the score for Orient in the first half, even though he was apparently considerably offside when he tapped in his 26th goal of the season.

At the end of a loose header, Kelman stepped into the box to put his side with 1-0 on the way to the break.

However, there was a huge gap between the last stockport defender and the 23-year-old attacker when the ball was nodded by Omar Beckles.

Beckles jumped up to drop a speculative Sean Clare ball that went into the box.

Kelman was closely on the side of the Clare Ball, but was very clearly past the last man when Beckles tried to flicker.

It is not clear whether Beckles has succeeded in tackling the ball, but the officials seem to think that he did not do that because the goal was awarded and the game was subsequently overshadowed by the decision.

Fans were convinced that Beckles had touched it and Immeatley went to social media to give their opinion.

One wrote: “Can get a tank there!”

While another added: “@Specsavers, do you have room for this lino?”

It was also not only fans who were furious, but also the stockport players.

They immediately surrounded the referee Benjamin Speedie to explain that they felt that a mistake had been made.

While stockport boss Dave Challinor could see the civil servant in the tunnel in the tunnel during the break.
