Ukraine latest: Macron to present Trump with peace proposal as EU leaders meet Zelensky in Kyiv to mark third year of Russia’s invasion

The Kremlin said today that it welcomed and supported what it called a new American approach to Dialogue with Russia, which contrasted with that of Europe.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov responded last week to a question about comments from US President Donald Trump, in which he criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zenskiy and suggested that Kyiv had started the war.

He said that Moscow hoped that Washington would fully investigate the root causes of the conflict in Ukraine, of which Peskov said it was necessary to achieve an arrangement.

Peskov added that Russia sees no grounds for the time being to renew the dialogue with Europe, hours after the EU agreed a sixteenth package of sanctions against Russia about the conflict in Ukraine.

The US and Ukraine are 'very close to signing a mineral deal that could help to protect the future of KYIV, has said former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

The former conservative leader told ITV's Good Morning Britain:

I believe that we are very close to getting this mineral agreement that is signed between the United States and Ukraine, and the US not only links that to future financing of Ukraine, but also for a free, sovereign and secure Ukraine.

I think it is positive for Ukraine – and don't forget, the fundamental loser in everything that Putin becomes, because what Putin wants is Ukraine is a vassal state of Russia.

What this deal has in mind is an economic partnership with America, and the two things are simply not compatible.

World leaders meet today in the Ukrainian capital to mark three years since the illegal invasion of Russia in the country, in a show of support by some of Kiev's most important financiers, while the United States are in danger of gaining support.

The three -year characteristic of the war came at a sensitive moment for KYIV when Volodyymyr Zensky navigates into a rapidly changing international environment that is used by the most important shift of Donald Trump of American policy and warming relationships with Moscow.
