President Emmanuel Macron of France became the first European leader to meet Trump in the White House on Monday, while the continent collects his arguments to defend Ukraine.
Trump has sent shock waves through Europe by criticizing the Ukrainian president and claiming that Ukraine started war instead of Russia.
Before his visit, Macron said he would present Trump arguments that it was not in his interest to bow to Moscow.
“I will tell him: deep down you can't be weak in the face of President (Putin). It is not you, it is not what you were made of and it is not in your interests, “he said during a question and answer session on social media.
The two started the day at a conference call with G7 leaders on the day that marked the third anniversary of the entire Russian invasion of Ukraine.
He is tagged by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who will be in the White House on Thursday.
He viewed his case just before Macron's arrival, revealed new sanctions on Moscow and said that Trump had changed the worldwide conversation “around Ukraine.
“We have to keep calling the economic pressure to get Putin at a point where he is not only ready to talk, but to make concessions,” he said during an external address to a meeting of the allies of Ukraine.
