‘9 out of 9’: BJP and allies win Maharashtra assembly elections | India News – Times of India
NEW DELHI: The Mahayuti alliance of BJP, Shiv Sena and NCP won all the nine seats it contested in the Maharashtra Legislative Council elections held on Friday.
Opposition Maha Vikas Aghadiof MVA, won two seats. The third candidate, Sharad Pawar’s party-backed candidate Jayant Patil of Peasants Workers Party (PWP), lost the polls.
In the elections for 11 vacant MLC seats in the state, Mahayuti had nine candidates and MVA three. So the fight for one seat is worth watching.
The MVA had fielded one additional candidate despite having only 66 seats (23 MLA votes are needed for 1 MLC seat), hoping for cross-voting.
