Veronica explained to Lauryn and her husband and co-host Michael Bosstick, “My kids probably only wash once a week.”

She then wondered why they needed to be washed more often, asking, “Why would you need to do that? Why are they dirty?”

After this, Veronica revealed: “First of all, I just let my kids do what they want to do.

“I have four children. I’m not going to fight with my children about little stupid things like bath time.”

Veronica says her children are nine, seven, five and two years old and that they swim in the family pool in the summer.

She continued: “Now they swim – we have a pool, and they swim in the summer, so I guess we call that bathing.”

Veronica said visiting the family pool has influenced their bathing habits, adding: “So it’s probably even less than that.”

The nurse practitioner said that the most important thing for her children is that they make their own decisions.

She concluded: “Our children have autonomy over their bodies and their rooms and they can make all the choices around that, assuming they are safe.”

The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @tscpodcasthas clearly caused a lot of surprise, because in one day the video has already been viewed 411,800 times.

I was tired of not being able to take a bath, so I solved my problem with a cheap purchase on Amazon – it’s even more comfortable than a regular bath

Social media users were shocked by Veronica’s claims and many expressed their opinions in the comments.

Someone said, “My Latin American mother screamed.”

What do experts say about washing children?

ACCORDING to experts, you may not need to bathe your child every day.

According to the NHS, it is not necessary to bathe newborns and older babies every day. However, if they really enjoy it, there is no reason why you shouldn’t.

They suggest that you might want to wash their face, neck, hands and bottom. This is often called “topping and tailing.”

The NHS advises parents to choose a time when their baby is awake and content and to make sure the room is warm.

Then use a bowl of warm water, a towel, cotton wool, a clean diaper and finish with clean clothes.

If you’re still on the fence, don’t worry. We’ve spoken to the experts to give you the lowdown on bathing your kids, including top tips and whether there’s such a thing as too much washing!

Joyce French, cleaning expert at HomeHowIt was found that the average recommended time for bathing children is about two to three times a week for young children aged 0 to 5 years.

She said: “Children who go to school may need a daily wash; but a thorough wash three times a week is still sufficient.”

Elsewhere, parenting expert and certified nursery teacher Kirsty Ketley shared her advice on bath time.

The mother of two, who shares her tips about her websitesaid: “Children under 5 years old do not need to be washed every day unless they are really dirty, and it is not necessary to use a lot of products on them.

“For example, children with severe eczema may be advised to wash with water only two to three times a week.”

If you choose to bathe your child every day and there are no medical reasons why you should not, then a bath before bed is a great way to help your child relax.

Plus, it’s a great start to a bedtime ritual or routine.

Cleaning expert Joyce says parents should be careful not to bathe their children too often.

She said: “Bathing or showering too often can disrupt the skin’s natural protective barrier.

“This can lead to dry, irritated or infected skin, especially if you use harsh soaps or boiling hot water.”

Another added: “My African mother literally fainted.”

A third commented: “This is bad.”
