The state government of Queensland has confirmed Molly that the Magpie can stay with its owners forever, after a lawsuit threatened to tear them apart.
De Ekster lives with Gold Coast -Paar Juliette Wells and Reece Mortensen together with their Staffordshire Terrier Pets Peggy and Ruby.
Molly was removed from the house in March when the authorities heard that the couple had no permit to take care of native animals in the wild, but the bird was returned six weeks later after a public protest.
The future of the bird with the family was in the dark for months after a judge of the Supreme Court in November had destroyed the award of a specialized license from Wildlife Carer to the couple, who Molly and her dogmen's stars have changed in social media stars.
The Minister of Environment of Queensland, Andrew Powell, has now ruled that Molly is 'a wild bird' and confirmed that the couple did not need a permit to retain it.
“We don't seize the bird,” said Mr. Powell.
“My understanding is of the instructions I have received from my department … is the bird free to come and go, it is essentially wild … and therefore a permit is not required.”
