Army personnel shoot themselves in Rajouri in Jammu and Kashmir | India News – Times of India
The incident took place when the army personnel, Havaldar Indesh Kumar was on guard at his camp in Anjanwali village, located in Manjakote area. The reasons behind his actions remain unclear, officials said.
Police have launched a judicial inquiry to investigate the matter, she added.
Earlier on Sunday, in another incident in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district, he shot his colleague with an AK-47 assault rifle before turning the weapon on himself, officials said.
The incident took place while the two policemen, along with another colleague, were on their way from Sopore in north Kashmir to Subsidiary Training Center (STC) in Talwara, Reasi district of Jammu region.
Udhampur SSP Amod Ashok Nagpure confirmed the events and stated that the accused constable used his AK-47 assault rifle while firing. “The accused officer shot dead his colleague before committing suicide. Initial investigation shows that this is a case fratricide and suicide”, he added.
