Rs 2,100 for every Delhi woman if she comes to power: Kejriwal's big election promise
NEW DELHI: The Aam Aadmi Party on Thursday unveiled its “big surprise” for the women of Delhi. Party chief Arvind Kejriwal announced that every registered woman in Delhi will receive a monthly payment of Rs 1,000, which will increase to a payment of Rs 2,100 after elections. To avail this benefit, women need to register and once registered, the amount will be transferred directly to their bank account, he said.
He explained that although the election dates would be announced soon, financial disbursement to beneficiaries would only be possible after the elections.
The initiative was first introduced in the 2024-2025 Budget with a budget allocation of Rs 2,000 crore.
“Today I have come to make two big announcements for the people of Delhi. Both announcements are for women. I had promised to give Rs 1,000 to each woman. This proposal was adopted this morning during the cabinet meeting chaired by Atishi. Now this plan has been implemented in Delhi… The elections are announced in 10 to 15 days, so it is not possible to transfer money to the account at the moment. Some women said that Rs 1,000 would not be enough against inflation. Therefore, registration will start from tomorrow at Rs 2,100 per month,” Kejriwal said while addressing a gathering in Delhi.
“Women run their families, give good manners to their children, educate them. And children are the future of the country and if we can help women in this, we consider ourselves happy. In Hinduism we say that where women are worshipped, gods live there,” he added.

The Aam Aadmi Party is contesting the Delhi elections solo, with Kejriwal once again rejecting an alliance with INDIA bloc ally Congress on Wednesday. Elections in the national capital are scheduled for early 2025.
After securing 67 and 62 seats in the 2015 and 2020 Delhi Assembly elections respectively, AAP is now seeking its third consecutive term in power.
