Kim Kardashian’s hairdresser shares a brilliant tip for a voluminous ponytail

BACKCOMBING and tons of hairspray are the ways many people have come to rely on when creating a voluminous ponytail.

But a hack shared by Kim Kardashian’s hairstylist Chris Appleton has shown how to achieve the look without damaging your locks in the process.

Chris took to TikTok to explain the hack, as he started by cutting off the top section of his model’s hair and tying it up with a headband.

He then took that section of hair and twisted it up and back through a hole he made just above the band.

Once that was done, he swept that section up and to the side, before gathering the rest of the woman’s hair into another ponytail beneath the first.

Chris then made another hole in the hair above the first ponytail and pulled the second ponytail through.

He finished by tightening the hair in the band underneath, which added to the voluminous look.

Loads of hairspray completed the ponytail makeover.

“Try this pony hack!” Chris wrote in the caption for the video.

And people quickly took to the comments section to share their thoughts on Chris’s hack, with one person writing: “Immediately yes!”

“Now that’s doable for me! Thanks Chris,” praised another.

“I love this! I’ll have to try it,” said a third.

“Ohhhhh so good!” said someone else.

As another commented on how “fun and easy” the hack looked.

“This hack looks amazing! I can’t wait to try it out for myself,” someone else added.

But others insisted the hack had been around for years, and they swore by the 1990s style.

“Wasn’t this ‘topsy tail’ in the 90s? I love it when trends go back lol!” wrote one.

“I wore my hair like that to primary school in the 90s,” laughed another.

Hairstyles that are kind to your locks

  1. Loose braids: Opt for loose, soft braids instead of tight braids to minimize tension on the scalp and reduce breakage.
  2. Low ponytail: A low ponytail is less stressful on your hair compared to high, tight ponytails. Use a fabric-covered hair tie to prevent snagging.
  3. Messy sandwich: A relaxed, messy bun can be both stylish and kind to your hair. Don’t pull your hair too tight and use soft hair elastics.
  4. Soft waves: Embrace your natural texture or use heatless methods to create soft waves, reducing the need for damaging heat styling tools.
  5. Half up, half down: This hairstyle involves pulling back some of the hair while leaving the rest loose, reducing pressure on your scalp.
  6. Headbands and scarves: Using headbands or scarves can keep hair out of your face without causing damage, and they can be quite fashionable.
  7. Loose braids for sleeping: Loosely braid your hair before going to bed to prevent tangles and breakage during the night.

“We did this in the 90s,” a third agreed.

While someone else wrote: “It’s the 80s/90s topsy tail!

“Doesn’t it look nice!”

Kim is no stranger to voluminous bangs and has worn them on the red carpet in the past.

Chris also counts Jennifer Lopez, Katya Perry and Dua Lipa among his celebrity clients, and is even credited with “creating” Ariana Grande’s high ponytail.
