Awadhesh Pratap Singh University holds 12th convocation ceremony, 57 students receive gold medal | India News – Times of India
The Awadhesh Pratap Singh University in Rewa, Madhya Pradesh was established in July 1968 and received UGC recognition in February 1972.
Madhya Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla attended the event as the chief guest while Shaurya Doval was the special guest.
In his speech, Doval emphasized the historical significance of Indian civilization as a center of knowledge, giving examples of ancient institutions such as Nalanda, Taxila and Vikramashila. Noting that universities have historically played a key role in shaping nations, he emphasized the need for graduates to contribute to society.
“Historically, when our universities were thriving, our nation and civilization were also vibrant. When foreign invaders attacked our nation, they first targeted our knowledge systems and educational centers, leading to our subjugation. In the early 20th century, people like Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya established universities that became centers of knowledge and nationalism during the freedom struggle and organized thousands of freedom fighters in the struggle against colonial rule,” Shaurya Doval said in his speech.
He suggested practical ways graduates can make an impact, such as applying scientific knowledge to help farmers, using technology to solve problems, deploying business management skills to support businesses and using knowledge of economics to alleviate poverty to push back. He urged students to contribute towards making India a developed nation by 2047 and emphasized the importance of providing thought leadership to the world.
The Governor, along with Deputy Chief Minister and Vice Chancellor Rajkumar Acharya, awarded a total of 57 Gold Medals and 82 Ph.D. and postgraduate degrees.
