Macquarie University students has been asked to complete learning modules that describe non-native students as 'settlers' and 'guests'.
On Monday, 2GB -Gastheer Ben Fordham had related complaints that a student from Macquarie University had raised with him around 'Wake' lessons.
In a module about Aboriginal Australians, non-native students were told that they were 'settlers' and 'guests' in this country.
“If you live in Australia and are not Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, you are a colonist and therefore a guest,” the module reportedly read.
'Many guests are also worried about being wrong or offense.
“It is important that guests also take the time to ensure that they have a deeper insight into colonialism.”
Yannick Thoraval, a creative writing teacher at RMIT University, told Daily Mail Australia that the language as described was unnecessary 'accusing'.
“Although I am not familiar with the specific situation … I will say that it is disappointing when a statement that clearly tries to recognize and pay for historical violations in language that is divided and accusing.”

“Given the increasing hostility and polarization in the rest of the world, we are not better served in Australia by language that is constructive and cooperative?”
Fordham broke back on the idea that every Australian should be considered as a guest in his own country.
'I don't care if you only became Aussie last week, this is also your country, you are not a guest.
“These students just want to learn to expand their horizon and they can't start their studies until they sign up for this played idea of owners versus” guests “or” settlers. “
“Seriously, these people can just finish,” said Fordham.
“We are fed up with people trying to distribute us.”
A spokesperson for Macquarie University told Daily Mail Australia that their students are obliged to complete the training modules, but have not commented on the specific concerns that the student raised.
'Macquarie University offers four introductory training modules to students: academic integrity, Safer Communities @MQ, Sustainability and Student Manawari Training (which focuses on indigenous culture).

“These modules reflect the policies and values of the university and support compliance with the university's obligations under the national threshold standards and codes for students, as well as anti -discrimination laws.”
The spokesperson added that the training courses used by Macquarie University are similar to those of other institutions.
'The modules are designed to maintain a safe and inclusive campus for all our students, and they are not uneven in their intention for many training courses for students at other universities or for new employees at many Australian companies.
“Although students are obliged to complete these training modules, course material are not withheld from a student who did not complete this training.”
After telling the students' story, a number of students from other Australian universities – including La Trobe University, Charles Sturt University and James Cook University – reportedly came to the fore with similar complaints.
Libertarian member of the NSW Legislative Council John Ruddick joined the show on Monday and thanked the student for sharing her story.
Ruddick said that the practice was probably widespread in the tertiary institutions of the country and claimed that they 'tried to maintain group thinking'.
