Elden Ring Neightreign was one of the biggest reveals of The Game Awards on Thursday evening. There were a lot of questions about what the heck this game is, but fans of the original action role-playing game will be able to see it for themselves in just two months.

The network test for Neightreign will take place in February game website. Those interested in trying the game out early can sign up for the test and get a feel for what this standalone, multiplayer-focused version of Elden Ring is like.

A network test is a kind of demo of a game, but intended to let people play with each other online. It acts as a stress test for the game’s servers and gives the developer some last-minute feedback before the game goes live. There was also one network test for Elden Ring before launching in 2022.

What is Elden Ring Night Reign?

Elden Ring Nightreign is a spin-off of Elden Ring that focuses on co-op survival action. Three players work together to explore part of Limgrave from the game, but places and enemies are randomly generated, according to IGN. Players move a bit faster and need to level up quickly as they have to survive three days that last only 15 minutes. Every night they must move to safer areas or die, similar to Battle Royale games. A boss appears every night and players must defeat it to progress.

Although this is a multiplayer-focused standalone game, developer FromSoftware says Nightreign is not a live service game where you only have to play online and are forced into microtransactions. Players can play offline and alone if they wish.
