‘Stop discrimination in Kerala’: Priyanka Gandhi leads opposition protest outside Parliament, demanding relief for landslide-hit Wayanad – Times of India
Priyanka Gandhi told reporters, “We are very disturbed by the government’s refusal to give the special relief package to Wayanad. We have asked the Prime Minister, everyone, to declare that this is a disaster of a serious nature and give a special package.”
She went on to say that similar large-scale destruction has taken place in Himachal Pradesh, “where the Congress is in power. They have long been demanding that the Center help and provide the assistance needed to the victims. The entire government has seen devastation, pain and agony. and suffering.”
“But precisely because of politics, the central government refuses in both cases to do what is due to the victims. They are citizens of India. There should be no discrimination during natural calamities,” the MP from Wayanad added.
The Kerala Congress party had earlier posted on The party captioned the post: “Father of Democracy Caught on Camera Skipping Parliament Session and Wandering Around.”
Earlier on Friday, the MP delivered her debut speech in Lok Sabha, taking center stage during the debate on the Constitution. She led the Congress’s charge against Prime Minister Modi, accusing the NDA government of going all out to reject the Constitution over the past decade.
The Congress leader raised the issue of recent violence in Sambhal and Manipur, Lok Sabha results and the Constitution to corner the BJP government. She said: “Nowadays people are intimidated to speak the truth. Whether it is a journalist, an opposition leader or a university professor, everyone keeps their mouth shut. Opposition leaders are being investigated by ED, CBI and IT and sent to jail for making false allegations. “
“This government has spared no one. Their media machine spreads lies and makes accusations,” she added.
