The daughter of Gene Hackman thinks her father and his wife died of carbon monoxide poisoning.
Elizabeth Jean Hackman told TMZ that although they are not sure about the cause of death of the couple, they think it can be due to inhalation of poisonous fumes.
The Oscar winner, 95, and his wife Betsy Arakawa, 64, were found dead on Wednesday in their Santa Fe house.
Elizabeth also said that the TMZ police did not find any signs of cheating at the actor at home.
Hackman, Arakawa and their dog were all dead when delegates entered their house to check their well -being around 1:45 pm on Wednesday, said spokesperson for Santa Fe County Sheriff's Office Denise Avila.
Santa Fe Sheriff Adan Mendoza added that civil servants are 'in the middle of a provisional life investigation' that is 'active and continuous'.
He also said that detectives found two surviving dogs on Wednesday in Hackman's Residence.
Hackman, a double Oscar winner with an estimated net value of $ 80 million, was just 95 at the end of January. He became a recluse in the last 20 years of his life, after he withdrew in 2004. He packed his things, left Los Angeles for a quiet life in New Mexico – and he never looked back.

Hackman shared three children with his first wife Faye Maltese. He and Arakawa, a classic pianist, had been married for the past three decades.
The Nors-but beloved Hackman was one of the best actors of his generation, who appeared as villains, heroes and anti-heroes in dozens of dramas, comedies and action films from the 1960s to his retirement in the early 2000s.
He was a five-time Oscar nominated who won for the French connection in 1972 and two decades later Unforgiven. His death only comes four days before this year's ceremony.
Hackman met Arakawa, a classically trained pianist who grew up in Hawaii, when she worked in a fitness room in California in the mid -1980s, the New York Times reported in 1989. They soon went to Santa Fe.
Hackman, a natural private man, got a recluse while he remained out of public interest for years.
Friends occasionally shared a glimpse of his post -acting life, including social media recordings of fish expeditions -while trying to his silver screen triumphs. He would also occasionally be seen who kicks around Santa Fe on a bike around Santa Fe.
Last year Hackman and Arakawa were seen for the first time in two decades from and around.
The actor was seen holding on to the arm of his wife for balance when the couple grabbed a bite in Pappadeaux's Seafood Kitchen in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Before dinner, Hackman enjoyed a cup of coffee and some apple pie from a local Speedway store.
The couple's outing was the first time that they were seen together in public for 21 years, with the last time at the Golden Globe Awards 2003, where he won the Cecil B. Demille Award.
In an interview with Empire in 2020, the retired actor revealed that he enjoyed watching DVDs that Arakawa rented. He said: 'We love simple stories that some of the small low-budget films manage to produce in it.
'Friday evening will be reserved for a comedy channel marathon, with special attention paid to Eddie Izzard. The speed of thinking is great. '
