President Trump wiped angry ethical worries about accepting a luxury Jet of $ 400 million from Qatar to be used as a new Air Force One, and said that only someone would “stupidly” reject such an offer.
“I think it’s a great gesture from Qatar. I appreciate it very much,” said Mr. Trump. “I would never be anyone to reject that kind of offer. I mean, I could be a stupid person and say,” No, we don’t want a free, very expensive plane. ” But it was – I thought it was a great gesture.
Qatari officials say that the plan for Mr. Trump to accept the aircraft for use as Air Force One while he is in office is not completed. However, some high American officials have openly described it as a possibility, one that has been signed by the Watcher of the White House and the Attorney General Pam Bondi. Mr. Trump repeatedly complained about delays and cost overruns in a contract with Boeing for two new presidential jets.
But on Monday, Mr Trump said when the Qatari plane was taken out of military use and at the end of his term it is transferred to his library that he will not continue to fly in it.
He became angry with the questions of an ethical swamp, including whether Qatar expected something in exchange for the donation, of which he said it would be up to the Ministry of Defense and not for him personally. Democrats and government cars have suggested that the donation would violate the Emolumums clause of the Constitution and create a stimulation structure for the Lord Trump with regard to Qatar.
“You should be ashamed of that question,” Mr. Trump told an ABC news reporter who pushed him on the issue. “They give us a free jet. I could say:” No, no, no, don’t give us. I want to pay you a billion or $ 400 million, or whatever it is. ” Or I could say, “Thank you very much.” ‘
He then called on a golf analogy about accepting a free putt during a round, suggesting that following rules if someone doesn’t have to do that is foolish.
