Elon Musk has fueled fear in the heart of the European establishment after he had spoken to support the United States who leave both the UN and NATO.

The technical billionaire made the comments in a message on X, formerly Twitter, last night.

Gunther Eagleman, a political commentator with 1.3 million followers, who describes himself as a 'proud America First Maga Patriot', wrote 'It is time to leave NATO and the UN in an X post on March 1.

That message was replaced by Musk, the leader of Donald Trump's Department of Government Efficiency (Doge), who simply added 'I agree'.

Musk has also replaced a tweet today by the Republican Congressman Massie, the representative of the Forth Congressional District of Kentucky since 2012, who has called NATO 'a cold war relic that must be banned into a talking kiosk at the Smithsonian'.

The approval post of Musk comes in the aftermath of calls from other Republican legislators to reconsider NATO membership of the country.

Senator Mike Lee, a long -term NATO critic, has called the organization a 'cold war relic' and argued that it offers a 'big deal for Europe', but a 'rough deal for America'.

The role of Musk as an important player in the new administration means that his approval of the anti-NAVO position could cause problems for the North Atlantic Alliance.

Donald Trump has so far avoided to actively call up the US to go out of NATO, but in the aftermath of his second election victory, he consistently painted it as a one -sided relationship.

He told reporters that he doubted the value of spending money on NATO – because the US protected NATO members, but “they didn't protect us.”

Indeed, there is a clear momentum within the White House to an isolationist, 'America First' position and the president has repeatedly removed his -Navo fellow people because they have not increased their defense expenditure quickly enough.

The US President team told European officials in December that the Blok should double its spending objective of two percent more than would have to double – a target that more than a quarter of the members were on their way to not meet.

Trump called on European countries to increase their military budgets to 5 percent of GDP – much higher than the US's own defense expenditure.

The 45th and 47th US President also said in February 2024 that he would encourage Russia to do 'what the hell she wants to do' with one of the 32 NATO member states that have not achieved any ambitious defense issues.

Even in the first term of Mr Trump, there were several signs that the real estate mogul was ready to resort to more drastic measures.

High officials in the initial Trump government said that their boss spoke private several times in the course of 2018 about his desire to withdraw from NATO, the New York Times reported.

In the meantime, in the period around a NATO meeting, he reportedly told the same summer his top ranking of the national security officers that 'he did not see the point' of the North Atlantic Alliance – which he depicted as a 'drain' on the US.

In the audience of Mr Trump, including the then Minister of Defense Jim Mattis and national security adviser John Bolton, tried to play the negative feelings of the president about NATO, for fear that talking about a withdrawal of Washington in Europe could take advantage of Vladimir Putin.

NATO, the first peacetime military alliance that entered the United States within the western hemisphere, was founded with three important goals in mind.

The first was to stop the spread of communism, the second to prevent the revival of nationalist militarism in Europe by a strong North -American presence on the continent, and third to encourage European political integration.

The North Atlantic Convention was signed on April 4, 1949 and included the famous article 5 that promises a mutual defense commitment: “An armed attack on one or more of them … will be considered an attack on all of them.”

After his recent meeting with the US President, British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer trusted in assistants that Mr. Trump had apparently confirmed that he was still dedicated to Article 5.

However, it is not only NATO that is in the sights of Musk -as his X -Post makes it clear, he also supports the US that the United Nations leaves, an institution with which he has had various controversial personal run -ins.

In October 2021, Musk said he was willing to sell $ 6 billion in Tesla shares if the United Nations official who said that only 2 percent of the entrepreneur's income could help solve the hunger of the world.

The World Food program took Musk on his word and published a report three days later how the money would be spent – but the money never came out.

In his aversion to the UN, Musk is again tailored to the inner sanctuary of the Trump team, many of whom have spoken against the international body.

Senator Mike Lee, Senator from Utah, considered it “a platform for tyrants and a location to attack America and her allies.”
