University of Pittsburgh Football Recruit Mason Alexander died after a car accident.
Alexander, 18, signed at Pitt in December and had registered in the school early.
He died on Saturday evening in Fishers, Indiana after a vehicle that he was a passenger in the way of the road, hit a tree and caught fire, ESPN reported, referring to the Sheriff's Office of Hamilton County.
Allegedly, the accident came after the BMW in which Alexander tried to pass another car before it was waving to prevent a frontal collision with a third vehicle that travels in the opposite direction.
The driver of the BMW had tried to pass the first car just before a Hillcrest, and only saw the other car in his direction after the hill, the police said in a press release.
Alexander died on the spot and Pitt -Coach Pat Narduzzi later confirmed the tragic news in a statement.

Alexander, a four -star recruit according to Rivals, would start his university career at PITT later this month at PITT.
The first -year cornerback recently spoke with the media as Wednesday.
His former high school teammate, Peyton Daniels, Eerde Alexander with a genuine social media post after the news.
“Mason illuminated every room in which he was,” he endorsed a photo of the couple on X.
“Brought joy and playfulness to everything and everyone. He could change the whole direction of your day with one interaction. Mason is the embodiment of exceptional. Rest easily 15. Love forever. '
