AirPods with small AI cameras tipped to arrive in 2027, but that raises a question in which model they will be

We had strong indicators for a while Apple is experimenting with in-ear cameras such as input for Apple Intelligence. And according to a new report, Apple Plans to have cameras in AirPods as soon as 2027. It will also add a small camera to the Apple Watch In 2027, and launching his first camera-risen smart glasses.
That is according to Bloomberg’s Mark GurmanBut another report suggests that the cameras may not be cameras as you could imagine: last year, respected analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that Apple wanted to place infrared cameras in AirPods by the end of 2026.
Those cameras could see gestures, which can then be used to control the app or system functions. It is possible that Gurman and Kuo describe the same buttons.
Which airpods go with cameras?
Here is a puzzle: if Apple is on the right track to release AirPods Pro 3 This year, that is what we expect and long for a long time, then 2027 seems too early for another iteration of AirPods Pro: the first generation ran from 2019 to 2022, and the second generation is expected to have been carried out from 2022 to 2025.
So based on that, AirPods Pro 4 are only due in the end of 2028 – quite a few time after Gurman’s reported Camera Age line.
It is very unlikely that Apple will place a premium new function if it will place it in less than Premium AirPods, so if we assume that AirPods Pro 4 will not come before normal. That leaves us with two options: AirPods Max 2Or an even more premium type Airpods Pro – Airpods Ultra, someone?
I bet against the cameras that Max come in AirPods, because all reporting on cameras is so far about earplugs with camera and they sell much better than AirPods Max.
But adding another level to the AirPods range would run the Late Steve Jobs that spin: instead of his preferred line of three – good, better, best – it can mean five different flavors of AirPod, standard air pods with ANC, AirPods Pro 3, AirPods Max and AirPods Ultray. That doesn’t seem very Apple.
But perhaps the date of 2027 is switched off, or there will be another turn. In any case, we will wait a while to find out.
