Championship Club announces a decision to change Badge after large fan support

Middlesbrough has announced plans to change their badge next year for the club’s 150 -year anniversary.

Boro Initially presented a badge change in March and then held a consultation period with a group of supporters.

Club officials carried out a survey with fans, held face-to-face conversations together with workshops, both at the Riverside Stadium and Online and discussed the business with individuals on competition days.

And now they officially have the FA of their intention to change the badge.

The club’s research showed that 57 percent of supporters are in favor of the change, with 19 percent against the idea.

Middlesbrough has revealed that the change will take place from the beginning of the 2026-27 season.

The new badge then remains permanent.

An update from the club was: “As well as giving extensive feedback on a cross-section of our fans; seasonal card holders, match going fans and supporters on long distance, local and further away, young and old, there is a clear and consistent consensus under that feedback that can now be used to manage the design process.

“The club would like to take this opportunity to thank all supporters who have been involved with the club with the club so far, and we look forward to sharing further developments in due course.”

Middlesbrough finished the 2024-25 season 10th in the Championship Table with 64 points from 46 games.

After the last match of the campaign, head coach Michael Carrick revealed that he expected to stay, even though he did not reach the play-offs.

He said to the BBC: “I’m going on. We have a good team.

“My focus is on what I can say to the boys tomorrow, tomorrow, ahead to get ready for another good season.”
