The NBA X account was hacked on Tuesday, because several messages were made a cryptocurrency coin before they were removed.
On Tuesday afternoon a message was in the official X account of the NBA and the 48 million followers: 'The NBA brings the game to the next level. Introduction of $ NBA Coin! Our official digital active about Solana, designed to improve the involvement of fans and the future of sports transactions. 41 '
The message then contained a 'contract address' – a long collection of random numbers and letters, as well as a photo of a fake message below.
The release promised that NBA Coin would offer 'lightning -fast transactions, unparalleled security and seamless integration into the web3 landscape'.
The post was brought on at least two separate occasions on the NBA account – and separately to the NBA Spain account – before they were all removed.
The competition later confirmed to Front Office sports that the posts were the result of a hack.

The NBA has previously tailored itself to the crypto world, namely with NBA Top Shot
The NBA also has an Instagram account with nearly 90 million followers and a Facebook page with 50 million followers, although it does not seem that those pages were the victims of the cyber attack.
Although the NBA Coin Post was not legitimate on Tuesday, the competition was previously associated with the cryptocurrency world.
In 2020, NBA Top Shot – a blockchain -based marketplace where fans can buy and sell – started operating for public use (blockchain is the technology with which cryptocurrency can exist).
The Marketplace contains official NBA (and WNBA) emphasize, and is supported by the association itself, as well as the Players' Association.
