President Donald Trump clearly told Congress that billionaire Elon Musk Doge, the agency that embedded and reduces contracts in federal agencies while pushing to dismiss thousands of employees.
That may be accurate, but it is also at odds with the careful position that the government sets out in court fighting that challenges some of the actions of Doge.
“I founded the brand new Ministry of Government Efficiency, Doge, maybe you have heard of it,” Trump said on Tuesday evening in his speech to the congress. “He is led by Elon Musk, who is in the gallery tonight,” he said, to scream and call from applauding congress republicans. Musk stood and then gave a greeting.
Witte Huis lawyers have described the role of Musk as something other than an executive power, because the plaintiffs challenge dismissal from federal employees, members of independent agencies and independent inspectors general.
“Like other senior advisers to the White House, Mr. Musk has no actual or formal authority to make their own government decisions,” is a recent court application.
The White House has clarified that Musk is a 'special government officer' that serves temporarily. The richest man in the world has spent millions to help Trump get chosen and then started the Ministry of Government Efficiency on a voluntary basis.
Trump also spoke extensively about Musk and said that he “was working very hard” and added: he didn't need this and told him “that we appreciate it.”

President Trump praised the Ministry of Government Efficiency of which he said it was 'led by Elon Musk'
If to underline the point, Trump read a series of programs that he tore as wasting – many of them were emphasized by Musk himself on his X feed.
It included '$ 45 million for trade fairs for diversity and inclusion in Burma' Plus '$ 32 million for a left -wing propaganda operation in Moldova' and '$ 10 million for postal cutting in Mozambique'.
Musk even looked like a boss for the occasion and attracted a dark suit instead of the 'Tech Support' T-shirt and Maga Cap that he has worn, even within the Oval Office.
Trump also tore in what he called 'shocking levels of incompetence and probable fraud in the social security program'.
He then read information, also posted by Musk, who claims to show very old people on social security roles.
'It contains 3.6 million people from 110 to 119, I know none of them. I know some people who are rather older, but not entirely those elderly, 'Trump ad-sludge bed.

Musk greets when the president praised him during his speech

Sen. Elissa Slotkin (D-Mich.) Emphasized two-part and kitchen table issues in the democratic reaction, as he insists Trump for his Oval Office meeting with the Ukrainian president and for the exploits of Elon Musk
Social security experts have even said that there are existing checks to keep people outside a reasonable limit to get controls, and that the problem is people whose names are in a database from the time before electronic collection of death information. It distinguishes itself from lists of people who actually receive benefits paid.
Trump even had a row to delight Musk, who earned a trip to Mar-A-Lago on Air Force last weekend, who spoke during the first cabinet meeting of Trump where Trump joked that all cabinet secretaries who had complaints about him would be started.
“We are going to conquer the enormous boundaries of science, and we are going to lead humanity to space and plant the American flag on the planet Mars and even far beyond planting,” Trump said.
Democratic senator Elissa Slotkin (Mich.) Also konked Musk during her refutation, but in less flattering terms.
“Is there anyone in America who feels comfortable with him and his gang of 20 -year -olds who use their own computer servers to cross your tax returns, your health information and your bank accounts?” she asked.
