Akal Takht jathedar asks SGPC to place photos of 3 Khalistani terrorists in Golden Temple museum | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Giani Raghbir Singhjathedar of the Akal Takhthas asked the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee whether SGPC to hang portraits of three Khalistani terrorists in the Central Sikh Museum in the Golden Temple Complex.
The jathedar of Akal Takht, considered the highest temporal seat of the Sikh community, has described Khalistani terrorists Hardeep Singh Nijjar, Paramjit Singh Panjwar and Gajinder Singh, “martyrs” of the Sikh community, and requested the SGPC to place their portraits in the Central Sikh Museum.
In a statement, Giani Raghbir Singh said the SGPC should display the portraits of the trio “considering their sacrifices and contribution to the Sikh community”, news agency PTI reported.
Dal Khalsa founder Gajinder Singh was one of five men accused of hijacking an Indian Airlines plane to Lahore in 1981. He reportedly died of a heart attack in Pakistan recently at the age of 74.
India had put Gajinder on its list of 20 most wanted terrorists in 2002.
Khalistan separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar was assassinated outside the Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara in British Columbia, Canada on June 18, 2023.
Last year, India-Canada relations came under strain after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in September made allegations about the “possible” involvement of Indian agents in Nijjar’s killing.
New Delhi rejected Trudeau’s allegations as “absurd”.
Paramjit Singh Panjwar (63) was murdered in Pakistan last year.
Panjwar headed the banned Khalistan Commando Force-Panjwar group and was involved in drug and arms smuggling and other terrorist activities when he was designated a terrorist by India under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act in July 2020.
