Championship Club get the last deadline to leave the stadium as a future ‘not guaranteed’

Oxford United is told when they have to leave the cash register stage.
The Championship Club has been playing at the location of 12,500 seats for the past 24 years.
But it is owned by former chairman Firoz Kassam and his Firoka group, who want Oxford To move.
The license would expire and leave at the end of next season The team without a house In just 12 months.
But an agreement has been concluded in which the deal is expanded to the end of the 2026/27 campaign, with the option of another year.
It means that Oxford has to move the Kassam stadium with three positions in June 2028.
Former club chef Kassam stated: “Oxford United has been a hugely important part of my life for more than 25 years, but now we are all the right moment for all of us to look at the next chapter.
“With this extension, Firoka Group enables itself to concentrate on developing the wider site for the locals and the City of OxfordWhile the club is given clarity in the short term.
“It is now up to others to approve the planning to guarantee the future of Oxford United.”
Current U’s Chief Grant Ferguson added: “The club was confronted with a number of very difficult decisions about where to play after our license had expired in June 2026 and before our new stadium is ready.

“There is a huge amount of work behind the scenes to take us so far, and I would like to describe my thanks to Firoz Kassam, which personally supervised the discussions that led to this short -term extension.
“It agrees that this goes much further than the conditions of our existing scheme and shows the support of Firoz for the club, especially given that this may postpone its plans for the site.
“We can now continue with certainty as both parties look to the future.”
Oxford is planning one New site of 16,000 seats and have submitted the proposal to the Cherwell district council.
The new house will be on the land that is known as the Triangle near Kidlington and the stadium will contain a hotel with 180 bedrooms, restaurant, conference center, health center and welfare space, gym and community square.
