There is nothing like an election to get skeletons out of the closet.
Even when candidates try to be on their best behavior, dark comments from their past have the habit of bubbling at the surface.
Nowadays I can unveil the LNP candidate for the most important marginal seat of Blair from Queensland, has previously made a series of very inflammatory comments about homosexuality.
They may have been made on the pulpit of the church and before they were selected to walk to parliament, but there is no excuse for them, whatever side of politics you hold.
Carl Mutzelburg, a former pastor of the Catalyst Church, had suggested that Homo was a lifestyle choice and he would refuse to attend the marriages of gay friends.
“My current personal conviction is that I would not attend the wedding of gay friend … I do not believe that same -sex marriage will bring wholeness of life to that couple or future children,” he said in a sermon on September 18, 2015.
I should add that Mr Mutzelburg has since changed his attitude towards same -sex marriage and says that he is now attending the weddings of gay friends when he is invited.
The Blair Electorate is held by Labor MP Shayne Neumann on a margin of 5.2 percent. Last year the Prime Minister intervened to save his preselection, for fear that a new job candidate would have difficulty retaining the seat for the government.

At the time of many of Mr Mutzelburg's sermons about homosexuality, Mr. Neumann – who is also a pious Christian – was also against the marriage of the same sex.
He changed his position to be there at the end of 2015.
In a sermon of October 31, 2015, Mr. Mutzelburg suggested that gay are a lifestyle choice: “I can show you a stack of studies, scientifically conducted studies that seriously suspect that someone is simply born in this way, it is in their DNA that nothing can do about it.”
Mr. Mutzelburg also provided sermons that complained 'sexual immorality' in society and compared to cancer.
“Jesus does not immediately refer to homosexuality. Well, that is technically correct, but certainly as an implication that he does. He talks about sexual immorality as something that a person contaminates, “he told his municipality on November 14, 2015.
'You can imagine that you are going to a doctor and you have a tumor in you and he cuts you open to remove that tumor. You wake up from the anesthesia, you say to the doctor: “How did it go? How is everything?” “He said.
“The doctor says:” Not so bad. I left a bit there, but I was in a hurry. Sewegen you just have to be up again. All has to be good. “
Mr. Mutzelburg also used rape and bashing homosexuals to make his point that “only because Jesus does not mention anything, does not mean that it is allowed.”
Mr. Mutzelburg's offensive comments have turned up again, while Prime Minister Anthony is considering calling the federal elections
'For example, Jesus does not talk about rape, but that is not allowed, we all agree on that. He doesn't talk about, say, bashen of a gay person, that is a disgusting thing to do. It does not mean that it is allowed only because Jesus does not talk about it. '
The LNP candidate for Blair's sermons also suggested that being transgender is wrong and is 'postmodern':
“God has made them male and feminine, and this is important because the postmodern vision today is that your gender is separated from your humanity – you can choose – but the biblical view is that your gender is part of your humanity.”
His criticism of relationships of the same sex were made before the parliament legalized same -sex marriage after the popular consultation the coalition in the government initiated. The post voice results in a yes voice of 61.6 percent and 38.4 percent not a voice, with almost 80 percent of the eligible Australians backing their ballot papers.
When contacted by Daily Mail Australia, Mr. Mutzelburg apologized for the content of some of his sermons, and promised that if he was chosen, he would represent the views of all his voters in parliament:
'In my role as a pastor I discussed many issues with my congregation in the context of Christian teachings. While my sermons were meant to display the views and teachings of the church, the way I articulated this articulated is sometimes clearly short. I sincerely apologize for this.
“Although my Christian faith remains important to me, my priority as being elected as a member of Blair will fight for what my community wants and represent their views in parliament.”
