A main teacher would have attacked his deputy with a key for shocked students after they found after they reported an affair with the same female colleague.
Dr. John Felton, 54, is said to have overlooked the deputy head of Richard Pyke with the heavy tools during morning lessons, giving him serious injury.
The married father of three e-mailed the staff and apologized for what he was about to say: “I'm sorry for the need that the rest of today will bring.”
Emergency services were called to St Joseph's Catholic School and Sixth Form Center in Aberavon, South Wales, after the violent attack on Wednesday morning.
Dr. Felton was arrested on the spot on suspicion of assault. Pyke, 51, was taken to the hospital with non-lifferring injuries.
Pupils who have witnessed the violence are offered counseling and support through the local educational authority.
Some parents arrived to collect their children after receiving SMS messages about the attack and threatened to keep them off until they received guarantees about leadership in the school.
Others released their concern about the teachers who reportedly have sexual contacts at school, and added 'let alone that the senior teacher almost beats someone to death'.
It is understanding that the female teacher is not present at the time of the alleged key attack.
