A current affair reporter Seb Costello has formally resigned from nine after a three-month study to a wild chase on the camera that ended in the Ladies lavatories of a chic hotel in Melbourne.
Nine launched the internal probe after the star journalist – who is the son of the former chairman of the network and ex -federal treasurer Peter Costello – was accused of attacking a financial director during the wild 'bounce' last November.
Costello and his cameraman were demolished by nine pending the outcome of the investigation, which continued during the summer holidays.
But he told Daily Mail Australia on Friday that he finally decided to resign.
The decision comes after Daily Mail Australia saw the award-winning journalistic meeting with the former chef and millionaire hot chair host Eddie McGuire for advice on coffee in the suburb of Melbourne van Toorak on Thursday.
“After more than a decade to nine, I resigned in my role to look for a new challenge,” he said.
“I want to thank nine and wish the team the very best.”
It is unclear whether nine had formalized the findings of his research before Costello decided to resign.

However, a nine spokesperson confirmed that the Costello's decision was to renounce the media company.
The alleged collision in the middle of the Saga unfolded when Costello real estate developer Peter Aquino brought to the Oak Capital head office in Melbourne's exclusive Rialto Tower on Monday.
They were there to confront the managers who blames Mr Aquino for the collapse of his construct housing activities as part of a long -term investigation into the company.
But when Costello and Aquino Oak Capital Case manager Mo Ahmed saw, in the foyer of the lush office block, the finance boss asked no questions.
Instead, he ran away along the bustling Collins Street of the city and the nearby Intercontinental Hotel, where he tried to hide from Costello and Aca's cameras in the fool for women.
Costello and his crew reportedly followed Mr Ahmed's toilets where they stayed with him with questions about the credit practices of his company.
Oak Capital has since leveled serious accusations against Nine and Costello and accuses the controversial reporter of Mr Ahmed's attacks after he has followed him in the Latrines – while Costello has steadily denied a misconduct.
Ironically, Nine's vast research into the bouncer had lasted more than three times as long as the entire Costello study.

The long internal assessment is in stark contrast to the relatively sturdy three -day probe of the network in Alec Cullen last month.
The former Today Show -sports presenter was dismissed after he had accepted a payment of $ 50,000 in his personal bank account because he participated in a stunt with Melbourne billionaire, Adrian Portelli.
Accepting cash, gifts or benefits to undermine journalistic independence and to use a journalistic position for personal gain wrongly, are breaches of the ethical code of journalism as defined by the Media Entertainment and Arts Alliance Union.
It is, however, understood that Costello's Buitinging was the highlight of a month -long research into Oak Capital by a current affair, which also includes an extensive interview with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission Sarah Court.
The business ruler has also been busy investigating “Uignificant behavior.”
ASIC has accused the private credit agency of providing 47 loans that have avoided credit rules and deprived the customers of important consumer protection, including responsible credit obligations, the right to make hardships and protection against excessive reimbursements and interest.
The regulator claims that borrowers were often in financial need and that when they fail to go to loans, Oak Capital immediately moved to take their homes back.
Oak Capital has denied every misconduct and indicated that it would fight the allegations before the court.
