An urgent recall has been published for children's garden toys sold by Costco in the midst of concerns that they can cause 'kidney and brain damage'.
The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) has warned that the long handle how hoe and rake in Stanley Jr. Kids wheel truck and 7-part garden set forms a 'serious chemical risk'.
'Excessing concentrations of migrable lead' were found by civil servants in the yellow paint on this toy.
The yellow paint on the handle of the long hoe turned out to contain 800 ± 12 mg/kg migrable lead. The yellow paint on the handle of the long rake turned out to contain 210 ± 4 mg/kg migrable lead.
Lead exposure can cause a wide range of adverse effects, including kidney damage, blood circulation and the developing brain.
Unborn children and young children would be the most sensitive to lead.

The product also does not meet the requirements of the Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011.
Affected shoppers are encouraged to visit https://www.recall-rtb.com/pages/register-uk to register the product and request a free replacement.
Owners is also told to immediately stop using the product made in China.
The official costco item of the Toys Garden Set is 1662178 and the batch is from December 2023.
