A former boxing champion was praised as a hero after he signed up to take the place of a terrified young woman who was held in the Knifepoint during a dramatic hostage situation at the airport – before he displays the attacker with his bare hands.
Shocking images conquered the frightening impasse on Almaty Airport, Kazakhstan, where a knife-waving maniak seized a 21-year-old female security officer, jerking her up at the hair and threatened to blow up the airport with a bomb he claimed that he could explode through his phone.
As Botagoz Mukhtarova panicked, the brave father of five, Musa Abdraim, 52, stepped forward and offered to exchange place-a movement that may have saved her life.
The test unfolded when the 67-year-old attacker suddenly brought out a knife after being asked to show his ID at the security control point.
Guardians and the police watched horror while he grabbed the female officer and waved the knife dangerously close to her face while he was grating about exploding a bomb.
“The attacker had a knife and a phone,” said Abdraim. “He told the police officers that he would press a button on the phone and blow everything up.”
It was then that Abdraim, dressed in a normal brown t-shirt, made his move.
While the airport was silent, Abdraim waited for the perfect moment – then he jumped to the attacker and grabbed the knife with his bare hands in an amazing show of courage.
