Man who threatened the American senator from Nevada, gets prison for almost 4 years

A man from Las Vegas who made a series of anti -Semitic death threats against Senator Jacky Rosen, a democrat in Nevada who is Jewish, and also threatened her family and that of another senator was sentenced on Tuesday to almost four years in prison, said federal officers of justice.

The man, John Anthony Miller, 44, left numerous violent and rugging voicemail messages on Mrs. Rosen’s phone telephone between 11 and 25 October 2023, in which he threatened to “finish what Hitler started” and suggested that she was complicated with the death of Palestina, in Nevada in Nevada.

Spencer L. Evans, special agent responsible for the Las Vegas Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, said in a statement On Tuesday, Mr Miller’s threats were a horrifying effect on chosen officials.

“Violent threats against a person are unacceptable, but when they are focused on chosen officials and their family members, threats have the potential to influence democracy themselves by those chosen to represent the American people, to silence,” Mr Evans said.

Judge Jennifer A. Dorsey of the American court sentenced Mr Miller to 46 months in prison, followed by three years of guided release, said public prosecutors.

Jess Marchese, Mr. Miller’s lawyer, did not immediately return comments on Wednesday.

Messages left with Mrs. Rosen’s office on Wednesday were not immediately returned.

Mr. Miller, who pleaded in December for one counting of threatening a federal officer and two counts of threatening a family member of a federal officer, was arrested and charged in October 2023.

According to a criminal complaint, Mr Miller Mrs. Rosen threatened in a series of reports in the days after Hamas’s terrorist attack on Israel, his attacks with sexist and anti -Semitic Smet and blasphemy. In one phone call, according to the court reports, Mr. Miller told Mrs. Rosen: “We’re going to eradicate you.” In another call, Mr. Miller accused her of having her family members killed Palestinians on the West Bank.

On October 18, 2023, Mr. Miller showed up in the courthouse of Lloyd D. George, where Mrs. Rosen has a district office and demanded to see the senator. Safety turned him after he refused to give identification, according to loading documents. Miller shouted about the murder of Israelis when he walked away on Las Vegas Boulevard, according to records.

Mrs. Rosen was not mentioned in the criminal complaint, but the senator’s office later confirmed that she had been the target of the threats. Court reports did not identify the other senator whose family Mr. Miller threatened.
