A murder examination started after the body of a woman in the River Brisbane was found.
The body of the 49-year-old was found by a member of the audience in Yeronga around 5.40 am on 22 February.
At the time, the police said that first investigations suggested that the death of the woman was not suspected, but now that a murder investigation has started.
The emergency services rushed to the scene after the body was found, but the woman could not be revived and she was declared dead a short time later.
The woman was last seen in West End on the evening of February 21, the police said.
Detective acting Inspector Rod Watts will appeal to the media on Wednesday morning.
