Chelsea goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli has started a row of neighbors after chopping huge 40ft trees in his Surrey Mansion.
The stop of the blues received the go-ahead to expand his luxury Pad near the Cobham Training Ground of the club – complete with a cinema and playroom.

Planners of the city council told him that he could chop two trees to make way for the proposed development, but neighbors Suppose he is more equated to the ground – without permission.
They claim that the 30-40ft trees are decades old, although not protected by a tree preservation, and help prevent a view of the leafy estate.
The first Fulham Goalkeeper initially received a building permit for a front and back extension, including a family space, kitchen and breakfast room and cinema.
He also wants to demolish a porch and chimney stack and add dormer windows for a fourth bedroom and playroom on the second floor.
Documents submitted to the Elmbridge Borough Council State that the construction work started last year, but has not yet been completed.
Bettinelli, 32, has now submitted changed plans for planting trees and landscape architecture to remove trees.
In a letter of objection, a resident wrote: “The first proposal for ‘Bush and hedge pruning’ changed to the caps of several 30 FT trees, decades old.
“This significantly influenced the local animals in the wild (there were documented owls nesting) and privacy/light shade of multiple properties in the neighborhood.
“In my opinion, the new proposal to replace four trees is far below the remedial measure and must be considerably improved.”

Another neighbor wrote: “More hedging has been removed to set up the fence.
“This was not done by neighboring property.
“And versus the previous plan is now less dedication to cover than before.
“As a memory, 30-40ft trees were cut down without permission.
“No reduction in dedication should be shown on the plan versus that earlier.”
Bettinelli has become a member Chelsea in 2021 to stimulate the goalkeepers of the blues after the departure of Willy Caballerowithout being a contract in Fulham.
He spent a decade in Craven Cottage, made 120 performances for the whites and also represented England‘S Under-21 team earlier in his career.
The 6FT, 4 in Stopper bought his Cobham path for £ 1.5 million in September 2023, before applying for a makeover of a large design style.
In another objection, the local residents’ association said that it was “sad and deeply concerned that the developer, architect and builder violated the conditions imposed on the permitted application”.
They added: “Ripe trees offer benefits to both people and animals in the wild, trees also offer nature corridors to and from the surrounding green spaces, forests, commons and heathland of Cobham.
“Trees also offer screening for the properties of neighbors and garden facilities that they must be able to continue to use for daily activity without overlooking the perception of overlooking.”
Council officials are expected to make a decision about the trees later this month.
Bettinelli’s planning agent was approached for comment.
Rules for fences and trees
Fences:
- Early restrictions: In most areas, fences in front gardens are not allowed to be more than one meter high without a building permit. For back gardens, the limit is generally two meters.

- Overhanging branches: You have the right to trim branches that overlap in your property, but only to the boundary line. The cut branches must be offered to the tree owner.
- Protected trees: Some trees are protected by maintaining tree retention (TPOS). Contact your municipality before you do work on a tree, because unauthorized work can lead to fines.
- Carrots: If tree roots from the tree of a neighbor damage to your property, you have the right to remove the roots. However, it is advisable to first discuss this with your neighbor to prevent disputes.
