Terrange students were instructed to protect at their university campus after the police received a phone call from a person who claimed to keep someone with a bomb.
The police arrived at Claremont McKenna College in South California around 5 pm, local time after the unknown caller also promised to 'walk around with a gun and shoot everyone they saw on campus'.
After an extensive search, including the locking of some terrified students and evacuating others in their classrooms, the authorities found the call as a hoax.
“The caller told the shipment that they were in a toilet at the Claremont McKenna College -Campus, who held someone imprisoned and threatened to harm them,” said Claremont Police Department in a statement.
“They also stated that they had a bomb.
'Legal enforcement staff did not find anyone with a weapon and there were no victims.
“There were no signs of an active shooter. Extensive resources were used in response to the call for service, which was later determined as a false report or 'swating call'.
