Shocking images shows the moment that an apartment building goes up in flames after a 'dangerous' ranssonistic fire in a bank.

Emergency services were called to Eccleston House in Bristol in the early hours of 20 October 2022 after flames licked the outside of the building from the street.

The fire spread quickly, with large orange flames that wave from the upper levels that require a complete evacuation of the building.

Although a number of people had to be treated for inhaling smoke, no one was seriously injured, although one person had to be Save by the fire brigade.

Research work by Avon Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that the cause of the fire was intentional.

One of the inhabitants of the block, Israel Baber, 37, was arrested. He denied being involved, but a jury found him guilty of one count of arson that endangered life recklessly.

Baber set fire to a bank that was left in a stairwell by another resident who had difficulty moving it to their property.

The fire was started just after 6 hours and images of CCTV and doorbell cameras showed Baber around the building at that time.

Baber claimed that he was in his flat the moment it started, but a reconstruction of his claimed movements proved that he did not tell the truth.

The persecution was also able to prove the jury that the perpetrator would have been a man of a similar height and would be built as a baber and to wear similar clothing.

The costs of the damage are estimated at more than £ 450,000.

Baber was taken in custody prior to his hearing, which will take place on Monday 24 March at Bristol Crown Court.

Senior research officer, DCI Laura Miller, said: 'Baber's actions were extremely dangerous and could not have led to a much worse result on another day.

'The design of the building is such that residents were able to safely close a different staircase, but this would not have to play down the seriousness of what Baber did.

'The fire made a lot of alarm for residents and Baber refused to take responsibility for his reckless actions at every stage.

“This was a complex study, but the extensive studies have led to today's conviction.”

The officer in the case, DC Michael Tarling, added: 'It would be wrong not to draw attention to the response of the community to this incident.

'Everyone came together with resting centers, with the support of the Bristol city council, in the Catholic Church of Tawfiq Masjid and Center and St Patrick. This caused people who had to evacuate quickly with a place to keep warm and shelter.

“The support and involvement of the local community during our research has been an important role in achieving this conviction, and we want to publicly acknowledge that because we are enormously grateful.”
