Megan Rapinoe does not buy the reasoning behind the executive Order of Donald Trump that effectively prohibits Trans -Athletes for women's sports at public institutions.
Speaking with football publication, Mundial, the former team of Team USA specifically stated in the context of the president's claim that he protects female athletes against trans -rivals.
“Don't tell me it's about the rights of women's sports,” said the 39-year-old former Ballon d'Or Féminin winner. “That is completely unfair to say that.”
Since his inauguration in January, Trump has signed executive orders that obliges the federal government to recognize only two sexes and another entitled: “Keeping men from sport.”
In the last order, the Trump administration promised to engage the financing in every institution that allows transatletes to participate in female sports. Since then, the NCAA has changed its policy and now limits sports sports to student athletes who have been assigned a woman at the birth.
But while the Order of Trump claims to protect opportunities for women and girls to compete in safe and honest sports, “Rapinoe insists that there is a more sinister goal in the game.

“I just think it's very cruel,” she said. 'You know, if you withdraw it all, it's just a bit cruel and corrupt. This is no problem and you will not be able to order Trans -people from existence.
'We have just had to go through a very long period for ten years to really fight to only get a basic line of, such as equal rights and non-discriminatory behavior, and when people simply stop on women's sports. I think we are a bit at that moment. '
Rapinoe has always been critical of Trump, but tightened her focus on the president in 2022 when his hand-chosen judges of the Supreme Court v. Wade destroyed, pushing the debate on reproductive rights to the States.
And although the world cup champion admits that she is not 'personally afraid' about Trump's second term, she admitted in November in an interview after the elections that she is afraid of marginalized populations.
'I am nervous, but I am also hopeful. I believe in people and I certainly believe in women and I believe that people want better than the grim, dark, simply violent reality that Donald Trump has clearly explained to us, “she said.

The controversial NWSL legend and partner of retired WNBA -Superster Sue Bird is also a strong supporter of trans -rights, both on and outside the field.
She was one of the 40 professional athletes to sign a letter in 2023 against a bill that was aimed at excluding transatations of women's sports under title IX – part of the Civil Rights Act from the 70s that prohibits discrimination based on sex.
While NCAA officials less than 10 transgender athletes that play women's sports at partner schools, the organization has established an effective ban.
