My family of 6 lives in a 230 square foot house – we’ve nicknamed it the ‘Trailer Swift’
IF you own your home, you can do whatever you want with it. You can even call your tiny house Trailer Swift.
As Taylor says, “This is our place, we make the rules.”
Reddit user Baberton revealed that she managed to make a small house suitable for her large family.
“Our family of six, my husband, me and four children, lives in a mobile home of about 21 square meters that we renovated!” she said.
“It has a bedroom with a queen bed in the front, a kitchen/living room/bathroom in the middle, and bunk beds in the back.”
While many may wonder how big the mobile home is, she explained that it suited their needs just fine.
It provided shelter for her, her husband and her four children, aged one to six.
“It’s a perfect fit for us! We feel like we have the perfect privacy-to-space ratio,” she said.
But their ‘perfect’ home did require some preparation.
“We bought our caravan on [Craigslist] and then we almost completely gutted it and made it into a little house inside instead of a camper,” she said.
“At the end of it all we spent about 10k. For us it was absolutely worth it!”
She added that when they bought the mobile home, the bunk beds originally had no railings and the wardrobe had doors without shelves.
After several renovations, including many coats of paint and new floors, butcher block countertops, kitchen cabinets and striped walls, they transformed the mobile home into an oasis of tranquility.
The couple have converted a corner of the mobile home into a new bedroom, installing a large bookcase above their double bed and repainting the walls.
Their children were also allowed to choose a color for their part of their ‘room’, and they got new railings for their bunk beds.
To brighten up their bathroom, they installed a new vanity unit with a renovated sink and shelves.
Purchases from Ikea were a major part of the mobile home’s transformation. The original folding bench in the mobile home was replaced with new tables and benches with storage space.
To increase the storage space in their home, they added extra useful furniture.
For example, they installed a pantry near the kitchen table.
They even made room for a baby in the family by building a crib into the bottom bunk.
The Redditor also came out as a Swiftie: “Yes, we named our trailer Trailer Swift,” she said.
