When the newsreader Monica Dean Kaiser entered her first colonoscopy, she expected that everything would be a routine.
The NBC7 anchor, 46, even took a smiling photo of itself that the required liquids decreased and joked that she was looking forward to an 'nap' induced by anesthesia.
But before the procedure was over, Kaiser woke up and became aware that something was wrong.
“I remember I asked in the Waas:” Did you find something? ” They noticed about polyps and a point of concern. It felt serious. It was sobering, “she wrote for NBC 7.
When she finally came, she got the devastating blow that doctors had found 13 polyps and seemed like a 2 cm flat malignant mass in her.
It was another painful week before she got her diagnosis from cancer – only five minutes before she appeared in the air.
Just like a real professional, Kaiser delivered the evening news that described how she chose to take comfort in her routine at a time when everything else was omitted.
But the news had still shaken her to her core and panicked her about what it could mean for her children, then 18, 16 and 13 years old.

Kaiser decided to be checked after reporting on the disease in her work as an anchor at NBC7 in San Diego
'Your mind goes to dark places and you are staggering on the edge of panic while docking questions – what if the cancer is everywhere? How much time do I have? You evaluate everything. You are looking for Google things that you probably shouldn't do, “she explained.
The mother of three expected that she would just continue to prepare for Thanksgiving as usual, but instead struggled with the best way to tell her children.
“The holiday was joyful but repeatedly interrupted by frightening uncertainties about what happened in my body,” she remembered. “What if my upcoming scans withdrew the curtain about a situation that was worse than we thought?”
Another week passed and Kaiser underwent further scans that revealed that the cancer had been located and classified as 'T2' because of the depth that her rectum had imbued.
Kaiser underwent an operation and got an ileostomy, that is when: “The end of the ileum (the lowest part of the small intestine) is brought by this opening to form a stoma,” said the American Cancer Society.
The stoma is then used to tap the contents of the stomach in a bag instead of digesting it naturally.
“This medical miracle, although initially difficult to wrap my head around, offers the lower half of my intestines rest and gives them the best chance to fully recover and cure it,” she explained in January.
'I will live with this for at least three months before it is surgically reversed. This situation is … let's say … hard to digest.
But her self -confidence was quickly shaken when she was delivered that doctors had found a malignant mass of 2 cm on her intestine

But after the operation and an ileostomy to give her a temporary stoma, Kaiser is now cancer -free and in the air
“It's hard to get used to seeing something that must be on the inside, outside.”
Six weeks ago she shared the update that she is cancer -free and on March 3 she returned to the broadcast – but her way to recovery is not over yet.
Kaiser only decided to go for her first colonoscopy after he was moved by the testimony of various people who had been diagnosed with colon cancer, including a man who unfortunately died later.
Colorectal cancers are the fourth most common in the US and the second deadliest.
The American Cancer Society estimates that there will be more than 154,000 cases of colorectal cancers this year.
The symptoms are irregular intestinal habits, abdominal pain, rectal bleeding, fatigue and inexplicable weight loss – no matter how Kaiser explained that she had not clearly returned none of this suffering and her blood test.
It was her proactive approach that saved her and one that she would like to share to encourage others to be tested.
