Anthony Albanese has promised to reduce the maximum costs of prescription medicine under the pharmaceutical benefits regulation (PBS) to $ 25 if re -elected.
The costs of medicine on the PBS are currently up to $ 31.60 for holders of non-concession card, but Mr Albanese has sworn to introduce the reduction in January 2026 if he protects a different term.
It can save people with chronic health status hundreds of dollars per year.
The move comes after the delivery has previously reduced the maximum costs for medicines on the PBS to $ 30 in 2023.
Pensioners and concession card holders currently pay a maximum of $ 7.70 for medicines on the PBS.
If the change is put into operation, the regulations in Australia would be the cheapest they have been in decades.
“The last time Australians did not pay more than $ 25 for a PBS medicine was more than 20 years ago,” said Health Minister Mark Butler.
“Cheaper medicines are good for the hip bag and good for your health.”
