Shadow treasurer Angus Taylor left a press conference after being confronted with two anti-nuclear demonstrators, in the third example of protesters who hijack the speeches of politicians this week.
The front bencher of the opposition spoke to the media in Sydney on Thursday afternoon when he was approached from the side by a man to his left.
“I am sorry that I have to interrupt Mr Taylor, I just wonder why … you ask taxpayers to finance billions of dollars for nuclear energy when the energy bills increase?” The man asked.
The shadow treasurer told the man that he was 'happy to have a chat in an instant' but wanted to complete the press conference.
“Let's do the press conference and then have a chat,” Mr. Taylor told the man.
But the demonstrator was undisturbed and claimed that “Australians earn an answer to this.”
Shadow Minister of Finance Jane Hume, who stood behind Mr. Taylor, smiled awkwardly.
Mr. Taylor repeated his offer of a chat, but the demonstrator replied: “Why not having it on the record?”
At that time, another demonstrator approached from the other side to the shadow treasurer at Harangue.
Mr. Taylor then walked up the street and shook his head.
It only came a few hours after opposition leader Peter Dutton had had a big lecture, derailed by two anti-nuclear demonstrators.
Mr Dutton spoke to the Lowy Institute in Sydney on Thursday morning when a member of the audience jumped out of his chair to protest against the policy of the coalition to build nuclear power stations.
The man tried to reveal a banner, but was stopped by two guards who quickly bundled him out of the location.
“Mr Dutton, why are you lying against the Australian people about the costs of nuclear?” The man shouted before he was violently removed.
The liberal leader continued to detail the agenda of the foreign policy of the coalition in detailed details.
But a moment later he was again interrupted by another man trying to talk about him.
That demonstrator was also towed by a guard and fell into the process of another participant in the process.
The coalition has sworn to build seven nuclear power plants in Australia to reduce carbon dioxide emissions and at the same time offer cheaper, more reliable capacity than renewable energy sources such as solar and wind.
Policy critics point to the costs of building the factories and claim that more gas and coal production makes possible in the meantime before the nuclear facilities are operational.
It marks a new approach to protesters to double their attack to give politicians overwhelmed.
