A Ukrainian rocket met an airbase that was used yesterday by Russian strategic bombers 400 miles behind the front line, in one of the longest distance strikes of the conflict.
The Neptune Cruise Missile Strike caused a fireball and huge explosions such as Russian heavy ammunition 'cooked'.
The explosion was apparently so powerful that the roofs tore from houses in civilian areas around the English-2-air base in Saratov-Oblast.
A huge wavy cloud kept the base for hours and was 20 miles visible.
It was unclear last night whether one of the Russian TU-95MS and TU-160 strategic bombers in English was destroyed, but the rockets they wear were destroyed.
The attack is a great success for Ukraine, because the recently upgraded Neptune rocket system was avoided Russian air defense systems -probably because of a refined radar jamming operation before the cruise rocket was launched.
