Grim face: Man dies after alleged attack on Melbourne’s Frankston Pier – while another man is arrested nearby
One person has been killed following an overnight altercation between two men on a Melbourne pier.
Detectives arrested a man on the waterfront at Frankston Pier, in the city’s south-east, at around 6am on Saturday, just hours after the incident, and said they were not looking for anyone else.
Police were called to the scene after reports of an attack on the pier, which is located on the Pier Promenade.
When officers arrived, they found an unconscious man halfway inside the building, who died shortly after.
The man in custody has not yet been charged and is currently assisting police with their investigation.
Police say the two men did not know each other before the alleged attack.
The area has been cordoned off and forensic police are investigating the crime scene.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers.
