iPhones has just received Google’s best AI function for free – and it can really let me switch from Android

I have never had another smartphone, except an iPhone until this year. However, while AI finds its way to every technical product on the planet, I had to try Android to understand the differences between artificial intelligence in the two ecosystems.
After using a Samsung Galaxy S25 A few weeks I returned to my iPhone 16 Pro Max. Not because it was better, but because the ecosystem that has built up your life is equal to the decisive factor when it comes to choosing between flagship smartphones.
Once back on iOS, I noticed that I missed a specific AI function than others, and without access on the iPhone I quickly failed with an Android device.
That AI function I am talking about is Gemini LiveAnd while you could get access to it, the experience was deposited. That was until Yesterday, on Google I/O 2025When Google announced that all the possibilities of Gemini are being rolled out live on iPhone and without costs.
This is why Gemini Live is the best AI tool I have ever used, and how adding all its possibilities to the iPhone means that I am ready to jump back Apple.
What visual intelligence wanted to be
Gemini Live already existed in the Gemini app on iOS, but two crucial elements were missing that make the Android version much better. Firstly, Gemini live on iOS could not have access to the camera of your iPhone, and secondly it couldn’t see what you did on your screen. I/O 2025 all that changed.
Now iPhone users can give Gemini live access to their camera and screen, making new ways possible to communicate with AI that we have never seen on iOS before.
Gemini’s camera capacity is one of his own, if not the, best AI tool that I have used so far, and I am very happy that iPhone users can now experience it.
What is Gemini Live’s camera function? Imagine a better version of what Apple wanted Visual Intelligence are. You can easily show Gemini what you look at and ask questions without describing the subject.
I have discovered that the camera functionality of Gemini thrives live in situations such as cooking. Last week I used it to make Birria Tacos, and not only I received every step advice, but it was also able to see everything I did and help me to a delicious dinner.
Not only has my S25 supported on a stand -supported Gemini Live, but because it can connect to Google Apps, I could ask to get information about a recipe directly from the video of the content maker. It is not necessary to constantly touch your phone with dirty hands in the kitchen, and you no longer even have to check a prescription. Gemini Live can do it all.
An AI companion at every step of the road
By sharing the screen, Gemini can see live what is on your display at any time, so that you can ask questions about images, something you work on, or even how to complete a puzzle in a game. It is seriously cool, similar to Apple Intelligence-driven Siri who has been promised, but never received back WWDC 2024.
The full free rollout of Gemini Live has just begun, so we still have to see how this functionality will work on iOS. That said, if it works as half as on Android, this will be a position that I would see many people in love with.
Gemini Live and his several ways of interaction with the world Unlock AI completely on a smartphone, and now that iPhone users also have access to it, I have no reason not to return to the Apple eco system.
