A graduated student from Cornell who praised the attacks of Hamas on October 7 and organized Pro -Palestinian protests has been ordered to surrender to ice officers – although he has not violated laws.

Momodou Language, a double citizen of the United Kingdom and the Gambia, received the order shortly after he had asked a judge to forbid the government to deport him.

A doctoral candidate in Africana studies at prestigious New York University, Language had filed a lawsuit a week ago to ask a judge to reduce two of the executive orders of President Trump aimed at foreign demonstrators on American campuses.

During the application, language said that he lives in constant fear that he can be arrested by immigration officials or police as a result of his speech. '

Language's lawyers reportedly received an e-mail from the Ministry of Justice at 1 am Friday to invite him to be personally appeared on the (Homeland Security Investigations) in Syracuse on a mutual pleasant time for personal service of the (notification) and for Mr Language to surrender to Ice Custody, reports.

A notification to appeal is one of the formal steps in the direction of deportation, but the E -mail has not specified a deadline for the student to surrender to ice.

Eric Lee, one of the lawyers of Taal, said on Friday in an application that “it is not yet clear what reasons for removal the government claims to be here.”

Language had previously played a leading role in organizing Pro-Palestinian protests, and his X account contains a number of posts in which Israel's destruction and the righteous attacks of 7 October are saying that “colonized peoples have the right to withstand all possible ways.”

Momodou Taal, a graduate student from Cornell who praised Hamas' 7 October attacks and organized Pro-Palestinian protests, was ordered to surrender to Ice Officaries

A week ago, Language got the headlines with his lawsuit to stop the government preventively to stop him, and said he feared that he would be because his name was driven on social media as a potential ice target.

From Friday evening, the government had not yet submitted a formal answer to its legal action, while Lawyers for Taal have asked the court to postpone his surrender to ice pending the outcome of its lawsuit.

The actions of the Doj against Language come when the Trump government promised to combat foreign nationals protesting on American campuses, in particular aimed at Pro-Palestinian organizers.

In recent weeks this has the Columbia University -graduated student Mahmoud Khalil, also held by immigration authorities.

Neither language nor Khalil have been accused of violating laws, but the DHS said earlier that Khalil was arrested because he “led activities on Hamas, a designated terrorist organization.”

Language has confronted with a recoil for his support for Hamas and the terrorist attack of 7 October. He is depicted in an interview with CNN The month after the attacks, where he claimed that it was 'racist' to ask him to condemn the terror group

Language's expected detainment seems to be on similar grounds, because he has made a number of statements to defend Hamas and was suspended twice by Cornell for the disruption protests that he has helped organize organizing.

He was warned that an academic suspension could lead to his visa withdrawn, but Language later came to an agreement with Cornell so that he could continue to study remotely.

The student had confronted with recoil for his inflammatory rhetoric about Israel and praise for Hamas, including a shocking response to the attacks of 7 October.

On the day of the attacks in 2023, when terrorists are in line with the group that killed more than 1200 people in a horrible spree, tweeted language: “Glory against the resistance.”

In an interview with CNN in November 2023, Language refused to apologize for his comments about the terror group.

“I think it's pretty racist, Islamophobic that before I can have a look at genocide, I have to condemn a terrorist organization,” he said.

Language added that despite his tweets, he “can clearly say categorically say that I am kidding all citizens, regardless of where they are and who does it.”

Protests emerged on the Cornell campus in response to the notification of language to appear, where those present held signs with reading 'no mass deportations' and 'Hands Off Momodou'.

Alaa Farghli, a demonstrator at the event, said WBNG that the protests were coming because “people now notice.”

“They want to come out,” she said. “They don't want to lose the bourgeois freedoms that they hold a lot.”

Language is the great -grandson of the first president of Gambia, Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara, and is a citizen of both Gambia and the United Kingdom. It was not mentioned in the reported e -mail where he can be deported if it is started from the US.
