The head of CNN's reporting from Washington DC and the turbulent political world of the US is 'relegated' while the network is struggling with how to report on the second Stint of Donald Trump, according to a report.
Philip Rucker, a former senior editor at The Washington Post, has replaced Senior Vice President Adam Levine with the most important CNN's Washington output -reportedly leaving the former chief.
Levine previously supervised CNN's vast Washington Bureau, but has now seen his role shrinking to only run the Network Research Team and a new 'Hub office', according to status' Friday newsletter from Oliver Darcy.
Rucker will now supervise teams that are responsible for breaking news, Enterprise, the White House, Capitol Hill, Justice and National Security.
Insiders noted that Levine was 'overwhelmed by the sudden shift of power' and was 'uncomfortable' when executive editor Virginia Moseley announced the changes during a Thursday evening meeting.
“There is no doubt: he was relegated,” said a CNN employee.
The changes come when CNN tries to change the coverage of Trump's presidency, with former executive editor of Politics Allison Hoffman who is said to leave the company 'calm'.
CNN is far from the only large broadcaster to face major changes, with various newsrooms that are confronted with fired, including at ABC News, where entire teams were recently 'stuck' in a shooting spree.

The changes to CNN are reportedly fed by the long -term plans of CEO Mark Thompson to develop the entire structure of the company.
Thompson, who came to CNN less than two years ago, is said to have plans to turn CNN into a subscription based news model.
But with the model that depends on readers who want to pay for articles, Thompson is unhappy with how Levine runs his Washington Bureau.
“Mark was not impressed by what Adam was doing with the desk,” an insider told Darcy's status newsletter.
“The political coverage, he felt, lacking the ambition, the distinctive character and the editorial sharpness that is needed to anchor a successful subscription product,” he wrote.
Levine was poached from the Washington Post when the rival newspaper underwent a similar revolution of owner Jeff Bezos, and CNN's Washington Newsroom was reportedly enthusiastic about allowing the veteran manager to participate.
While Levine takes over the majority of the Washington output from CNN, Vice President David Chalian will also supervise the operational side of editorial, polling and election analyzes for the company.
The network did not immediately respond to DailyMail.com for comment.

The big shakeup comes in a turbulent time for the news industry, with a number of large points of sale that are confronted with fired while star inhibitors are opposite the chopping block.
Jim Acosta, a former star reporter at CNN, left the company six weeks ago in the midst of the consequences of his election coverage, and he has since started his own substit.
And while CNN is confronted with cuts, the relocation of Acosta is said to have been a success because he has collected 282,000 subscribers, more than 10,000 have paid access, which is on pace to earn him more than $ 1 million.
This is perhaps more than his CNN salary, which was never publicly available, but it is believed to be between $ 700,000 and $ 2 million.
Many of the best paid stars sweat with other networks while big names continue to fall, with a well -paid executive that Dailymail.com tells this month that top talents feel the heat.

Reviews fall across the board and there are repeated rounds of dismissals, described by some as a 'five alarm fire'.
A parade large figures such as NBC News 'Lester Holt and CBS' Norah O'Donnell who suddenly step away from their highly appreciated jobs has only added fuel to the fire, while Hoda Kotb left the Today Show at NBC after 17 years.
“There is uncertainty everywhere in the industry,” said the director, speaking of anonymity.
“With changes in anchor and programming, there are really worries at NBC News and in particular CBS.”
